Meet Our Team

Dr. Tom Zulandt

Dr. Tom was born and raised in Chardon, OH, where he was one of 9 children. Since he can remember, he has always wanted to be a veterinarian. He went to elementary school at St. Mary’s, graduated from Benedictine High School and completed his undergraduate degree at Bowling Green State University where he met his wife, Jennifer. After they both finished their degrees they moved to Columbus, where he completed and earned his veterinary degree at The Ohio State University.


Dr. Tom’s enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine but especially soft tissue and orthopedic surgery. When not working, Dr. Tom enjoys spending time with his family and watching his three children compete in sports.

Dr. Alex Barry

Dr. Barry is a small animal veterinarian who graduated from The Ohio State University in 2018. She has a B.A in Biology from Thiel College. She has wanted to be a veterinarian since her first two pets, first a cat and then a dog, at a very early age – 4 years old. Dr. Barry has a particular interest in Behavior and Dermatology cases because two of her dogs suffer from these issues to varying degrees. 

In her free time, she enjoys reading many different genres of books, swimming, and playing games with her friends – everything from board games to video games. She has four dogs and seven cats at home right now.




Dr. Alyson Deak

Dr. Deak is a native of Madison. She graduated from Madison High School in 2009. She attended The Ohio State University where she received her undergraduate degree in Animal Science. While attending the OSU ATI she participated in research into porcine viruses at the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center (OARDC). She continued her studies at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she graduated in 2017.  Since attaining her DVM, Dr. Deak has practiced small animal medicine in Northeastern, Ohio. She is happy to return to her roots and serve her beloved community.

Dr. Deak has a special interest in internal medicine, especially the management of chronic and hormonal diseases. Outside of work, she enjoys running, cycling, hiking, and snowboarding. She also enjoys spending time with her family. She has three older brothers and a chocolate lab named Nestlé.



Hello there! I’m Nicole, the Office Manager here at Madison Veterinary Hospital.  I have been a veterinary receptionist for about 14 years and I really enjoy working with animals and helping them and their humans.  I have two kitties, a male named Ellis and a female named Princess. I have a 8 year old daughter as well and she loves her kitties! In our free time, we enjoy going to the Fairport Harbor Beach and playing in the sand. I look forward to meeting you in the future.




Kaitlin S.

Hi! My name is Kaitlin S. I graduated from Kent State University in 2018, with my associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology.  I grew up on a farm in Newbury so I have been around animals my entire life.  Currently, I live with my fiancé, John, and our four-legged children.  We have 5 cats, 2 dogs and a tortoise.  In my spare time, I like to do outdoor activities like camping, hunting and fishing and many kinds of crafting projects.  I am so excited to meet all of you and your furry children!







 I’ve been working in veterinary medicine since 2013 and I’ve been a licensed technician since 2014.  I have worked in small animal general practice, small animal emergency and equine emergency/specialty.  my love for animals began when I was a toddler on our cattle ranch in Texas. 
I currently live with my German Shepherd and cats.  In my spare time I like to read, play video games and spend time outside.  I look forward to meeting you and your furry family members.






Hi! My name is Megan. I graduated from Kent State University in 2018 with a bachelors of biology and went back to school to become a Registered Veterinary Technician! I don’t have any pets of my own at the moment, but I love spending my time caring for yours! In my free time I like hiking and traveling. 






Hello!! My name is Brianna. I am a veterinary assistant at The Madison Veterinary Hospital. I am a recent graduate from Great Lakes Institute of Technology. As a little girl growing up on a farm I became very passionate and knew someday I’d work with animals!

At home, I have a golden retriever, Dusty, and a Shih Tzu, Opie, along with my cat, Taylor and Guinea Pig. In my free time I like to go hiking, fishing and camping with my boyfriend and family and of course spend time with my furry friends! I can’t wait to meet you and your furry family!




Hi! My name is Amanda and I’ve recently been hired by Madison Veterinary as an Assistant. I have about 10 years of experience in the Veterinary field, as an assistant and a receptionist. I have a Bachelors degree in Biology with a minor in Environmental Studies from Wittenberg University. My husband, Jeff, and I moved to Madison with our son, Aiden, about 5 years ago. We have 2 cats, Jade and Tye, and a Bearded Dragon named Blizzard the Dragosaur. When I have spare time, it’s usually spent outdoors hiking, geocaching, or at a festival. I love spending time with my family and I can’t wait to meet your furry little ones!





Hello! My name is Courtney and I’ve recently been hired at Madison Veterinary as a Veterinary Assistant. I have always loved working with animals. I have a Maltese named Gizmo, a Pitbull named Stella, a Dalmatian named Blaise and 2 cats Buffy and Nugget. In my free time I enjoy hanging out with friends and spending time with my 2 year old daughter named Brooklyn. I look forward to meeting you!





Hi!! My name is Katie. I’m a Veterinary Assistant here at the Madison Veterinary Hospital. I love working with all types of animals, including those with special needs. I currently have two years of experience in the Veterinary field. 

My furry family consists of a senior Border Collie named Riley, a senior cat named Snowball, a rabbit named Victoria, two guinea pigs Chicken Nugget and Fidget, and my two special needs kitties Delilah (missing toes) and Polly (tri-pod). In my free time I like to be outdoors- whether it be at the range, on a farm, or in the middle of nowhere. I also love spending time with family and of course spoiling my furry children. I can’t wait to meet your babies!!





Hello! My name is Rachel. I graduated from Great Lakes Institute of Technology’s veterinary assistant program in 2014. I have been working in veterinary medicine ever since. I have had a strong love of animals my entire life. I live in Ashtabula with my 3 cats Leia, Betty and Joan, and my dog Dexter. I look forward to meeting all of you and your fur babies!


Hi my name is Amanda, I am currently a student at Kent State University working towards becoming a registered veterinary technician. I live in Painesville with my two dogs Jake and Split and my three fish. When I’m not at work or studying, I enjoy hiking and reading.
