Meet Our Team
Dr. Tom Zulandt
Dr. Tom was born and raised in Chardon, OH, where he was one of 9 children. Since he can remember, he has always wanted to be a veterinarian. He went to elementary school at St. Mary’s, graduated from Benedictine High School and completed his undergraduate degree at Bowling Green State University where he met his wife, Jennifer. After they both finished their degrees they moved to Columbus, where he completed and earned his veterinary degree at The Ohio State University.
Dr. Tom’s enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine but especially soft tissue and orthopedic surgery. When not working, Dr. Tom enjoys spending time with his family and watching his three children compete in sports.
Dr. Alex Barry
Dr. Barry is a small animal veterinarian who graduated from The Ohio State University in 2018. She has a B.A in Biology from Thiel College. She has wanted to be a veterinarian since her first two pets, first a cat and then a dog, at a very early age – 4 years old. Dr. Barry has a particular interest in Behavior and Dermatology cases because two of her dogs suffer from these issues to varying degrees.
In her free time, she enjoys reading many different genres of books, swimming, and playing games with her friends – everything from board games to video games. She has four dogs and seven cats at home right now.
Dr. Alyson Deak
Dr. Deak is a native of Madison. She graduated from Madison High School in 2009. She attended The Ohio State University where she received her undergraduate degree in Animal Science. While attending the OSU ATI she participated in research into porcine viruses at the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center (OARDC). She continued her studies at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she graduated in 2017. Since attaining her DVM, Dr. Deak has practiced small animal medicine in Northeastern, Ohio. She is happy to return to her roots and serve her beloved community.
Dr. Deak has a special interest in internal medicine, especially the management of chronic and hormonal diseases. Outside of work, she enjoys running, cycling, hiking, and snowboarding. She also enjoys spending time with her family. She has three older brothers and a chocolate lab named Nestlé.
Hello there! I’m Nicole, the Office Manager here at Madison Veterinary Hospital. I have been a veterinary receptionist for about 9 years and I really enjoy working with animals and helping them and their humans. I have two kitties, a male named Ellis and a female named Princess. I have a 3 year old daughter as well and she loves her kitties! In our free time, we enjoy going to the Fairport Harbor Beach and playing in the sand. I look forward to meeting you in the future.
Hello, I’m Lori and I’m very excited to meet everyone. I have been in the veterinary field for over 20 years. Born and raised in Erie, recently moving to Ohio 4 years ago.
I have my bachelor’s degree in biology from Mercyhurst College. I started pursuing my vet tech degree from Purdue University, with recently switching to San Juan College.
My husband and I have 2 kids both with 4 paws. Chops my little old man, almost 13 years old Shar-pei, and Bella, our crazy girl, 4 years old Chocolate Lab.
Hi! My name is Kaitlin S. I graduated from Kent State University in 2018, with my associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology. I grew up on a farm in Newbury so I have been around animals my entire life. Currently, I live with my fiancé, John, and our four-legged children. We have 5 cats, 2 dogs and a tortoise. In my spare time, I like to do outdoor activities like camping, hunting and fishing and many kinds of crafting projects. I am so excited to meet all of you and your furry children!
Hi! My name is Liz. I graduated from Kent State University in the spring of 2020 with my Associates degree in Veterinary Technology. I currently live in Dorset with my mini farm consisting of 1 dog, 5 cats and 2 potbelly pigs! In my free time I enjoy hiking, line dancing, reading and spending time with friends and family. I can’t wait to get to know everyone!
Hey, I’m Rachel M. I graduated from Stautzenberger College in 2008 with an associate degree in
Veterinary Technology. I am originally from Cleveland but have lived in Painesville with my
two daughters, Payton and Kylie, since 2013. Currently we have a beagle mix named Shenzie, a
pitbull mix named Ogimaa and two cats, Goobie and Pook. In my free time I love hanging out
with my family, being outdoors, hiking, going to the beach, or playing softball. I’m looking
forward to meeting everyone and their furry ones.
Hello!! My name is Brianna. I am a veterinary assistant at The Madison Veterinary Hospital. I am a recent graduate from Great Lakes Institute of Technology. As a little girl growing up on a farm I became very passionate and knew someday I’d work with animals!
At home, I have a golden retriever, Dusty, and a Shih Tzu, Opie, along with my cat, Taylor and Guinea Pig. In my free time I like to go hiking, fishing and camping with my boyfriend and family and of course spend time with my furry friends! I can’t wait to meet you and your furry family!
Hi Everyone! My name is Jodi and I am very excited to be working at the clinic as a veterinary assistant. I recently graduated from the University of Findlay with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in animal science. I eventually want to attend vet school, but for right now I want to acquire more experience and learn more skills from the wonderful staff.
I currently live in Conneaut, as I have my entire life. I love exploring outside in the sun or lounging on the beach. I do not have any pets of my own, but my parents and I are fostering two precious kitties for a family member. Their names are Mr. Mosby (pictured) and Chloe. I enjoy being around animals and look forward to meeting you and your fur babies!
Hi! My name is Amanda and I’ve recently been hired by Madison Veterinary as an Assistant. I have about 10 years of experience in the Veterinary field, as an assistant and a receptionist. I have a Bachelors degree in Biology with a minor in Environmental Studies from Wittenberg University. My husband, Jeff, and I moved to Madison with our son, Aiden, about 5 years ago. We have 2 cats, Jade and Tye, and a Bearded Dragon named Blizzard the Dragosaur. When I have spare time, it’s usually spent outdoors hiking, geocaching, or at a festival. I love spending time with my family and I can’t wait to meet your furry little ones!

Hello! My name is Megan and I currently work as a receptionist at Madison Veterinary Hospital. I live in Madison with my two sons, Austin and Justin, my boyfriend Joe, my rottweiler, Encino, and my two cats, Dustin and Jose Bob. I’ve loved working with animals since a young age. I have worked at our local Humane Society, with a veterinary oncologist and at the Emergency Clinic. I look forward to meeting everyone and their pets!

I graduated from Great Lakes Institute of Technology in 2005.
